How biologics teams approach developability screening of their candidates with combinatorial stability characterization

July 11, 2023

Full developability profiles de-risk the selection process for biologics candidates during early development workflows. There are many critical quality attributes to evaluate when it comes to developability profiling, and no single assay or instrument that will tell you everything you need to know.

However, stability studies are a great first-pass approach to narrowing down your pipeline for developability. They provide insight into how well-folded and pure your biologics candidates are, and whether they are thermostable and resist aggregation. Best of all, current instrumentation allows for the collection of many stability-related attributes at once, which reduces sample consumption and hands-on time for those doing developability profiling.

Watch this video to learn:

  • Why creating full developability profiles for your protein-based therapeutics is so valuable for the selection process
  • Which stability parameters are valuable for evaluation, and how they are measured experimentally
  • How the Merck & Co. Protein Sciences group uses multi-parameter characterization in parallel along a thermal ramp to get full developability samples on a library of mAb candidates
