Molecular tools to study viral infectious diseases

Pandemics have affected human society throughout history, but with the current pandemic happening today, realization is quickly setting in just how much viral infectious diseases impact everyday life.

In order to fight a virus, it needs to be understood. Advanced studies on the virus life cycle and its interaction with the host are key to identify novel therapeutic targets and develop antiviral drugs.

The evaluation of binding affinities with MicroScale Thermophoresis has been used in different fields of viral research. Some examples of how researchers identified key functions of viral proteins involved in viral entry and replication through biomolecular interaction analysis will be discussed. In closing, it will be shown how this technology can broadly support virus research and novel drugs identification.
