Choose a feasible project
Part of your challenge may be finding a realistic starting point given your limited resources.
Choosing a feasible project will allow you to more easily determine the benefits as well
as anticipate potential problems that could occur. Even though this approach may seem
more predictable, make sure to be honest about variables like funding, timing and available
resources that could have implications for you and your new lab.
Starting with a project that you know will allow you to get
results and to build a story more quickly and easily. You may
not publish those results in Science, Nature or Cell, but begin
with what you have a better grasp on in order to setup your
lab faster. If your resources are limited, don't start with too
many projects, as none of them will develop well. Instead,
focus on the most feasible ones. I would say, invest in two
projects: one more risky and one less risky.

Fabiola Osorio continued her postdoc topic in her lab. However, she
advises to go for what is feasible and easier to tackle.
