36 Know where to find information on lab equipment When it comes to finding information about lab equipment suppliers, there are three main ways: Manufacturers, distributors and marketplaces. Let's take a look at what each one offers. Manufacturers Go directly to the source. Manufacturers will have the most up-to-date information about a product, typically published on their website. Sales and support representatives who work directly for the manufacturer may offer better knowledge of the pros and cons of specific equipment, potential customizations, and how it can fulfill your research purposes. Distributors In locations where manufacters don't offer a direct sales representative, they may use a distributor who can offer information about the products as well as local service and support. Online Marketplaces Online marketplaces and review sites, like SelectScience and Biocompare, allow visitors to compare products based on prices, features, ratings and reviews. These sites host multiple suppliers and brands, giving visitors a more comprehensive idea of what's available.
