Sharing space
Sometimes, you have no choice but to start doing your research in a lab that's not yours or
that's shared with another PI. How do you deal with this situation?
I think the biggest issue when trying to organize your
lab with another PI is their egos. In my case, we are both
very pragmatic and direct so it is easier to get along. We
understand that we don't have much, and therefore, we talk
about the equipment we plan to purchase to try not to be
redundant and to share. Understanding that if we want to go
far, we need to go together.
Ronny Martinez
Ronny Martinez received a small space to start his research lab, which
he had to share with another PI. He emphasizes the importance of
communication and collaboration with your fellow PI in order to be
successful in your shared space.
